Fans of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch
Hi Everyone,
I will furnish info I know about Catchcon from having attended the two previous years. I am starting to get emails and PM's asking pretty much the same questions. For sanity's sake (smiles) I will post the information here where it is easy to find.
Catchcon is a fan appreciation event that is held by Discovery Channel. They chose a venue here in Seattle along the water that allows the Northwestern and Wizard to both be viewed and photographed. Fans have been allowed to board the top decks for photo opportunities with the crews. The event in the past two years has been early May on a Saturday and lasts from noon to 6PM.
Discovery only offers a certain amount of tickets for this event. They are free to people 18 and older. When they are released you can order one ticket per email address. (Nobody can order several at once). They're free, first come first served. When all the tickets are gone, the remaining people are placed on a waiting list in the order the requests came in. Note: Last year all the tickets were gone in about 2 hours.
AMENDED 3/14/2011 - Now that tickets have been released and everyone has theirs or is on the waiting list, you may be interested in a place to stay near the event. Here is a link that goes by price of hotels in the area. http://www.travelocity.com/hotel-d5853-washington-seattle-hotels?co...
If you were not able to attend Catchcon, there is always the Commercial Fishermen's Festival in Astoria Oregon, September 17 and 18. http://commercialfishermensfestival.com/ It's a relaxed, 2 day event and you will get more time to visit with friends, some captains, and crew members. At this time it is unknown who will be able to attend that function. Last year, there were captains and/or crew members from most of your favorite boats in attendance.
Thanks!

Comment by Mary Beth on January 8, 2013 at 6:18pm Keep your eyes on the Discovery site Janette, that is the best place to find out. Either there or here or on Facebook - I'm sure as soon as they announce it, everyone will post about it. Last year was cancelled due to the weather and longer season, here's hoping they have one this year!!
