Fans of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch
Deadliest Catch may be wearing out their welcome in UnAlaska, they are so tired of a camera in your face every where you go, this is a line drawn in the sand or at the door, as the local community health center voted to prohibit the show from filming injured fishermen there. The show had a huge impact and started with a big bang full of very dangerous fishing. what will happen next is all up to the fan's an how the camera and owners deal with this.
Just a new thing is greenhorn deckhands, Bernt Bodal, CEO of American Seafoods, will appear on Undercover Boss this month. Bernt was a deckhand himself at one time on pollock trawlers; it will be interesting to see which part of the American seafoods' operations get filmed or not.
Most of the Bering sea crabbers are going home,as a fisherman you can not afford to just set in the harbor that is costing you money as there is just to much sea ice comeing in to even get out of port this last month. Expect the price at the supper market to go up accordingly for Alaska Crab.
I have not been on here very much lately, just trying to get recover now. An get through all the paper work that builds up while you are gone. Today is the first day in awhile that I feel so much better just a live human now. So the rest of the week has just got to be so much better now.
Next week we will start having fresh troll caught winter king salmon again.
Take good care a may fair wind be at your back.
God bless
Captain Everett

Comment by Shelbi Cox on February 29, 2012 at 5:26am They don't "show" much of the town or the people there. Most of it is on the ships. I cannot fathom why they would think this is a good idea. I know they want to protect the Harbor and the people, but really??? how many people travel there anyway??? There aren't alot of people that can afford to travel up that far. The crew have been polite, from my understanding...the film crew I mean.
I hope, Captain Everett, that you are feeling better. Completely understand not staying at the Harbor. Can't do much about ice coming in
Blessings to you,
Shelbi
