CREW CHANGES ON THE CM
A new year brings new changes on the FV Cornelia Marie. I wrote about our King Crab season here, where you can read about our past crew which included skipper Derrick Ray. Now, the Cornelia Marie has a new captain - Tony Lara. But, Tony is not new to the Cornelia Marie. He fished on the CM from 1991 to 2000 as deckhand and engineer, mostly under Captain Phil. He's a good friend of the family and a respected crab fisherman. Tony was a good friend to Phil, as they spent years fishing together.We also have some new faces on the back deck. Our engineer Steve Ward and deck boss Freddie will be going to other fishing vessels. Steve will be working on the FV Fierce Allegiance, skippered by Tony LaRussa and Freddie will be joining the crew of the FV Wizard. Remaining on board will be Jake, Josh and Ryan. The two new crew members joining the CM family are Dale Pruitt and Troy Huls, who's known as "Chief". I went to school with the Pruitt family, with his brother Chad being a classmate of mine. These two guys have about 50 years of experience between them and we're glad to have them on the Cornelia Marie.

I will dearly miss Steve and Freddie like everyone else but I wish them the best of luck on their new vessels and hope they continue to stay safe out on the Bering Sea. Will be good to have some new faces and characters on the Cornelia Marie, I look forward to getting to know them this season. Wishing all the boys safe travels and great fishing during Opies, thanks for keeping us so well updated Morgan, keep up the awesome work =)

Thanks for the update Morgan! Freddie and Steve will be missed, but wish them the best on their future boats. Welcome Captain Tony, Dale and Troy. I am happy the CM will be out. We wish them calm seas and full crab pots. We will all have them in our thoughts and prayers.

All of know that Josh and Jake will do fine for they have their Father Cap. Phil to thank for that. They will be the best one of these days, for they would never let Capt. Phil down. Capt Phil is watching them from Heaven and still telling them what to do. They are their fathers sons. May god bless you boys (or men),on your endeavors in someday walking in your Dad's footsteps, just dont' loose his sence of humor or the whale farts he called them I think. He was an awesome Capt and Father, and he still has alot of fans that love him dearly as I do. Keep the faith and you will do fine. I wish for you and the CM in the new year of 2011 a dynamite season. be seeing you on the tv tube on Discovery channel.

p.s. I will miss Freddie on the CM for sure he made sure he got it done and his samonin ways he showed for good luck fishing. He was great. will miss him and wish him luck on his new endevors he wished to choose.

I am just so happy that things are coming in order so you will be able to do your fishing show. I have missed all of you who put your lives on the line to catch those aloosive crab. Your my favorite show and I will be so glad to have you back with us showing us what a great bunch of guys you truely are. The loss of Capt. Phil broke all of our hearts and we will miss him forever and a day. At least you not quiting the job all of u love to do. Welcome back to the crew and captain of the CM. When r u returning to the discovery family? I don't want to miss any of it. I am a true fan. God's speed and his arms wrapped around all of you and keep you safe. We have missed the show so much. All the best to Captain Tony, and the new crew members. Will definitely miss Freddie and Steve, but they will always be part of the CM family to me. ~ Calm seas and Fair winds, return home safe.
