Crab boats and their crews are being tested by Ice flows up to a foot and a half thick that threaten to block off access to the Trident processing plant at Saint Paul Island. Hopefully everyone can recover their pots before they are lost in the ice flows. Let's hope for better weather to come.

Storms are so bad this year! This is from KMXT’s Alaska Fisheries Report January 10, 2012. Winter Storm Sinks Boats in Kodiak Harbors.  

After nearly ten inches of snow followed by rain, all manner of inconveniences struck Kodiak this morning. The harbormaster is advising all boat owners to go shovel the snow off their vessel immediately. Marty Owen says three boats have sunk this morning (1-10-12).
