'Deadliest Catch' StarAccused of Bathroom Beatdown

Feleti Freddy Maugatai

The badass Samoan guy on "Deadliest Catch" is in trouble for allegedly squeezin' one out in a men's room in  Alaska ... as in, he's been accused of putting some guy in a serious headlock.
TMZ has learned ... Feleti "Freddy" Maugatai has been charged with misdemeanor assault over a violent altercation at the Grand Aleutian Hotel in Alaska on December 16.
According to the criminal complaint obtained by TMZ ... a female witness claims the Discovery Channel reality star got into a fight with her husband ... and it spilled over into the restroom.
When the woman went to check on the situation, she claims she observed that Freddy had her husband in a headlock.
The woman claims she tried to free her hubby, but Freddy grabbed her by the arm and "forcefully" pushed her across the restroom.
When cops arrived to the scene, police say they observed the woman had bruising and swelling on her arm.
According to the complaint, Freddy told police he didn't start the fight ... but was merely defending himself after the other man punched him in the face.  Freddy says he "did not touch Katz."
A few days later, a judge ordered Freddy to stay away from the woman, her husband and the hotel.  He's due back in court later this month.
TMZ attempted to reach Freddy for comment -- but he's currently working on the F/V Wizard crab boat in Alaska. A rep for Discovery had no comment.

I read a side comment on the article somewhere but now I cant find it...that the man was getting abusive with his wife and freddie stepped in to "rescue her" she was sure freddie was gonna lay him out so she grabbed for freddie and he pushed her away. dont know how true it is but, Id rather believe he was saving a damsal in distress than pickin a fight. TMZ is so full of it.

I honestly think that sounds a heck of a lot more like something Freddie would do than simply start a fight over nothing.

No way freddie would do this he's to nice to push a lady. I give my support to freddie!

When some one punches you in the face, it time to take some kind of action for protection of your self. It is that  the one who choose too the first punch that should go to jail. I just hope he had a witness for his side of the story.

Captain Everett

i hope so to capt

i agree with everyone else on this. i don't think freddy would put his hands on a woman in anger. it just doesn't fit with the persona that we see.... hope justice is served.

If this happened back on Dec. 16th, why is it just coming out now? You know if it was true, the media would have jumped all over it! I don't believe it -it doesn't sound like Freddie.

Remember the episode of DC where Josh & Jake almost got in a physical fight they were so angry at each other? Even then, Freddie said he would never step in, unless it got violent.

We support you 100%, Freddie!

Like anything TMZ produces is credible?

I do not think that's true but if we did was to defend the fight he hadwith such

I find it interesting that we've never heard of Freddie having any kind of issues with anyone.  I've been around him several different times and mostly what he talks about is getting along and respecting others.  He's a very humble and special person.  I dunno what happened but I can't imagine him doing anything without a good reason.

I agree Helen, Freddy is such a sweet guy I can't see him hurting someone especially a girl.

Well there's a lot of missing info here. I could speculate but my best guess is. That the husband and wife aren't telling the whole story in order to cover their six. The bruise on the "Katz's" arm might just be from the husband and Freddie didn't like that much.
